Magical winter bazaar at the DISD

On Sunday, December 9, the grounds of the German International School Dubai (DISD) shone in festive splendor. The annual winter bazaar attracted more than a thousand visitors to Academic City and offered a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the anticipation of Christmas together. The school community had spared no effort in transforming the school grounds into an atmospheric winter wonderland for the bazaar. Lovingly decorated stalls and a varied program created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The German Consul General Sybille Pfaff was among the many guests who enjoyed the colorful hustle and bustle.

As every year, culinary delights took center stage: from freshly roasted almonds and home-baked cookies to hot fruit punch, hearty salads and succulent barbecued food - there was something for everyone. The offerings reflected the diversity of the school community. There were numerous highlights for the children: "snowball" throwing, the sporty and creative Winter Olympics, face painting and a variety of exciting activities made their faces light up and their eyes sparkle. Henna paintings added a special cultural touch and charmingly combined Emirati traditions with the Christmas atmosphere. Numerous other market stalls invited visitors to shop for gifts.

Musical performances by the primary school children filled the grounds with the sounds of Christmas, while the traditional snowflake dance by the pre-school children won the hearts of the audience. As dusk fell, a glittering sky of lights transformed the outdoor area into a magical backdrop that perfectly matched the mild winter weather in Dubai. The guests visibly enjoyed the cozy get-together in the open air. Another highlight was the traditional St. Nicholas soccer tournament, in which student and parents played side by side. The tombola of the Abitur students enticed with attractive prizes, with the proceeds benefiting the Abitur class of 2025.

The warm atmosphere and commitment of the entire school community once again made the Winter Bazaar an unforgettable experience. Parents, student, teachers and guests enjoyed the opportunity to come together in a pre-Christmas atmosphere and share the magic of this special time in Dubai. The proceeds from the school stalls will be donated to the Parents' Council for purchases for the Kindergarten, Primary School and Secondary School . A big thank you to all the helpers, sponsors and supporters who made this festival possible. The anticipation for the Winter Bazaar 2025 is already palpable - until the next magical festival!
