Christmas concert at DISD

After a three-year break from concerts, the traditional DISD Christmas concert finally took place again on Wednesday evening at the German International School Dubai in Academic City. Under the Head of of the DISD music department with Mrs. Hafner, Mrs. Halushko, Mrs. Fleury, Mr. Teixeira and Dr. Wafi the primary school choir, the 5th classes, the student band, the secondary school choir and the teachers' choir inspired about 400 visitors. Layan Fayyad and Seraa Eid, who graduated from high school, led through the colorful program.

The primary school choir opened the concert with "Morgen Kinder wird's was geben! During the song "Singen wie im Schein der Kerze" tea lights illuminated the stage. The children provided a lot of entertainment with their song "In der Weihnachtsbäckerei", which they performed dancing with kitchen utensils.

At the latest when the teachers' choir interpreted the songs "Christmas Time" and "Jingle Bells" in an oversized sleigh, the concert hall was filled with Christmas spirit. The 5th graders sang "Feliz Navidad" and wished "Merry Christmas" in chorus. Together, all the children, parents and staff sang "We wish you a merry christmas" and DISD Principal Michael Lummel, with music teacher Valentyna Haluschko, sang "December again..." supported by Vice Principal Dr. Sammy Wafi on violin and music teacher Carlos Teixeira on piano.

The student band with Lara Gutmann on drums, Saif Zaidi on electric guitar and singer Hala Hassan received thunderous applause. The band rocked the hall with "Snowman" by Sia, among other songs. The concert came to a great end with the collectively sung song "Santa Clause is coming to town".
