The DISD libraries collectively house approximately 41,000 books and media items in German, English, French, and Arabic. As a German school abroad, we strive to stay up to date with the latest literary trends. In addition to books, we offer digital technologies and access to various platforms.
At BiblioThopia, secondary school students have free access to the Munzinger catalog, a portal featuring press, cultural, and academic databases. The librarian is happy to help students choose a good book or relevant reading material and find the right sources.
Our libraries are not only places to read and learn, but also popular leisure meeting places with lots of opportunities to play and be creative together.
For grades 1 through 6, weekly library visits are part of the curriculum. In addition, the libraries host regular events specifically designed to promote reading. These include, for example, author readings, activities such as "Reading in the Dark," poetry slams, book flea markets, reading contests, as well as arts and crafts and drawing activities.
Here you can view your personal library account and the DISD library stock. Media can be reserved or renewed online.
Parents will receive the access data for the online library catalog by e-mail at the start of school.
Another major measure to promote reading at DISD.
We were the first German school abroad to establish a library network in collaboration with the World Association of German Schools Abroad (WDA), and other schools abroad have gradually joined this network. On the Onleihe 3 platform, our student can borrow current bestsellers as e-books around the clock, whether from home or on the go. The app required for this is already installed on the school’s iPads, ensuring easy and direct access to digital media.
