Program
The DISD libraries together house around 35,000 books and media with German, English, French and Arabic titles. As a German school abroad, we strive to always be up to date with the latest literary developments. In addition to books, we offer digital technologies and platform access.
At Bibliothopia, secondary school students have free access to the Munzinger catalog, a portal with press, culture and knowledge databases. The librarian will be happy to help you choose a good book or suitable literature and find the right sources.
Our libraries are not only places to read and learn, but also popular leisure meeting places with lots of opportunities to play and be creative together.
Library visits are on the timetable for all classes. In addition, regular events take place in the libraries, such as author readings, library night, flea markets, poetry slams, craft and painting activities and competitions.
Here you can view your personal library account and the DISD library stock. Media can be reserved or renewed online.
Parents will receive the access data for the online library catalog by e-mail at the start of school.
Another major measure to promote reading at DISD.
We were the first German school abroad to establish a library network with the World Association of German Schools Abroad (WDA), which will gradually be joined by other schools abroad. On the platform WDA-Onleihe our students can borrow current bestsellers or audio books around the clock, whether from home or on the road. It is set up and maintained by Divibib GmbH, the leading digital lending platform for libraries in Germany.
By participating in the network, the students can access the entire stock of digital content of the "WDA-Onleihe" of all network partners. In this way, we can ensure a wide selection of media and diverse onlending titles in the future.
