Strong performance of DISD football team at the U10 Dubai School Games.
Sometimes you just need a little bit of luck. And that little bit of luck was sadly missing for the DISD football team today, Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Shabab Al Ahil Stadium in the U10 Dubai School Games. After taking a 1-0 lead (scorer Harry) in the quarterfinal match against Aracadia, the equalizer came in the last minute of the match dominated by DISD. The decision on who would advance to the semifinals had to be sought in a gripping penalty kick thriller.

Each team scored twice from the first three kicks and missed one kick each. This was followed by a nerve-wracking, alternating penalty shoot-out, which the luckier Arcadia players narrowly won 9:8. Goalkeeper Marwan was brilliant and saved 3 shots.

The U10 team made a very good impression throughout the tournament. Matteo was the top scorer in the group matches with three goals. Coach Iden cheered up the initially disappointed players. "You showed a great performance and sometimes you need a bit of luck. That's part of sport. Take the tournament as training for next week," explained the coach.
Incidentally, their quarter-final opponents Arcadia won the tournament, which makes the excellent performance of the DISD players all the more impressive. The next highlight awaits the DISD soccer team on Saturday, January 28. It's off to the U11 World School Games in Dubai Sports City. Kick-off for the group round is at 9 am.
