Deutsches Internationales Abitur (German A-level exam, DIA)
The school-leaving certificate developed individually and specifically for German schools abroad is comparable worldwide. It is aimed at the special requirements of a multicultural, multilingual student body.
Uniform examination requirements apply throughout the network of German schools abroad and are monitored by the German Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK). Both the traditional German Abitur and the DIA are highly regarded international qualifications.
Equivalent to a high-quality national and international secondary school leaving certificate, it enables students to study in any country in the world. While it is identical to the German Abitur in terms of content, it makes particular use of the foreign language potential of German schools abroad: in addition to German, lessons are taught in English, so that young people acquire not only subject-specific skills but also a high level of linguistic competence - skills that are more important than ever in a globalized world.
Further information on the DIA can be found here on the KMK website.
