Luca Erkol elected spokesperson for the World Student Advisory Council
December 08, 2024
From November 13 to 15, 2024, the newly founded Student Advisory Council of German Schools Abroad met for the first time in Berlin. Delegates from all 14 regions traveled to the German capital together with their liaison teachers to represent their regions at this special event. Our school was represented by Luca Erkol, our student representative and regional student representative from class 10c, and Ms. Moghadasi, our liaison teacher.
The meeting brought significant progress. For example, a statute was adopted that structures the work of the Student Advisory Council and regulates the main procedures. In addition, an intensive exchange took place with the Federal Pupils' Conference, which facilitates closer cooperation between German schools abroad and the national pupil councils. Another highlight was the visit to the Federal Foreign Office, which gave the participants valuable insights into the world of diplomacy. During the course of the meeting, the Student Advisory Council of German Schools Abroad was accepted as an advisory member of the Federal Student Conference - an important step that strengthens the voice of schools abroad at national level.

Three spokespersons were also elected for the World Student Advisory Council. Luca Erkol was able to successfully assert himself and is now one of the three spokespersons who represent the interests of the 136 German schools abroad worldwide. Together with his counterparts from Beijing and Belgrade, he is taking on this responsible task, which promotes intercultural exchange and cooperation at a global level.

This meeting marked the beginning of more intensive networking between student at German schools abroad. Key topics included the promotion of political education at the schools, the desire for more flexibility in the choice of subjects and the development of new exchange programs. The first meeting of the Student Advisory Council was an important step towards a stronger voice and closer cooperation at international level. We would like to congratulate Luca Erkol on his success and look forward to the upcoming projects of the World Student Advisory Council.
