Merry Christmas spirit at the DISD

Merry Christmas spirit filled DISD last Sunday (26.11.) as the traditional Christmas bazaar rang in the festive season. With over 1500 guests, the German school was transformed into a lively community hub and the beaming faces reflected the cheerful atmosphere. Colorfully decorated stalls invited visitors to immerse themselves in a world of Christmas cheer.

studentParents and teachers proudly presented their handmade works of art and festive decorations at the various stands. The culinary delights ranged from homemade treats to the refreshing iced tea made by Emily and Tea from Year 6, which was the result of a STEM experiment and put everyone in a good mood. The many homemade cookies and cakes, fresh waffles with powdered sugar and fruit punch were also particularly popular with the visitors. Consul General Sybille Pfaff was delighted with the roasted almonds at the 10th and 11th grade stand and bought several bags of the homemade treats.

The children's eyes lit up as they enjoyed the variety of games and activities, including gift sleigh pulling, lawn skiing and snowball throwing. They were also able to make Christmas decorations or have their faces painted with children's make-up. The now traditional DISD Christmas bazaar soccer tournament also took place again.

The musical performances by the primary school pupils, preschool and staff choir were a Christmas feast for the ears and eyes. In the winter-themed school canteen, the pre-school children wowed the audience with their snowflake dance. The other performances took place outdoors. The Year 2 children's wish list rap aroused anticipation for Christmas and presents. Principal Michael Lummel's performance of "Maybe next Christmas" helped to create a festive atmosphere in the schoolyard. "The community support was overwhelming," he emphasized.

The DISD Christmas bazaar is a living example of how cohesion and commitment can transform a school into a festive oasis. The proceeds from the bazaar go towards various school projects initiated by the Parents' Council. A big thank you to everyone who contributed!
