Opening of the expanded DISD school clinic

June 21, 2021

The newly expanded school clinic was opened with an official photo session on May 23. The appointment was attended by the school principal Michael Lummel and his deputy Dr. Sammy Wafi, as well as the head of administration Nadja Röhrle and the facility manager Bibinosh Cherian, and the association's board member for real estate Bernd Schmidt.

Principal Lummel and Board Member Schmidt each addressed Dr. Keli and her team briefly and took the opportunity to tour the new space, which meets all the requirements of a modern, barrier-free school clinic and Covid 19 specifications.

This school year, the team of the school clinic has been enlarged, since schools with more than 750 student* must always have a doctor as well as two nurses on site.

The team consists of Dr. Zaineb Keli and the two school nurses Hilde Arnold and Arlene Lucas. It is present at all times during the school day and lovingly cares for sick or injured children, provides first aid and carries out general health checks and vaccinations.

"The spatial conditions had to be adapted to the enlarged team, and the Board of Management is happy to support this," said Bernd Schmidt, who provided significant support to Facility Management and Head of Administration in the planning and implementation. He was very satisfied with the implementation of the conversion work.

Principal Lummel described the expansion of the school's clinic as a sign that DISD is constantly evolving and also praised the implementation as well as the excellent work of the team.
