Online coaching to promote presentation skills

"Those who can present complex scientific content in an understandable way have a valuable skill that remains relevant beyond their school years. 'Jugend präsentiert' encourages student to develop precisely this competence and strengthen their rhetorical skills," says Christian Kleinert, Managing Director of "Jugend präsentiert".

In order to improve their presentation skills right from the start of the competition, the student receive online coaching from rhetoric trainers at the University of Tübingen during the digital national final. The special challenge for the participants was to present the topic of their choice in six minutes using only digital media.

The state finals of the German schools abroad took place online. The student took part with a video of their presentation. A jury consisting of rhetoric experts, teachers, competition alumni and academics is used throughout the competition. It evaluates the presentations according to the type of presentation, for example the use of body language and voice or whether the design of the presentation slides is appropriate to the topic and the addressees. The factual accuracy of the presentation of the topic is also an important criterion.
