Lively exchange at the parents' info meeting 

Starting in January 2023, the German International School Dubai (DISD) invites parents to a monthly parent info meeting in the school cafeteria. It will take place on a Tuesday morning from 8 to 9 am. All parents of the DISD school community are welcome to stay for an hour after drop-off time. Over coffee, tea, and sweet snacks, a pre-presented topic will be discussed with educators, or experts, and the principal.

On Tuesday, 02.01, the first meeting on the topic "DISD digital" took place. Deputy Principal Dr. Sammy Wafi welcomed the parents with a short preface, in which he praised the team's development work, which makes DISD a showcase school in terms of digitalization and iPad school. Afterwards, the DISD digital team, under the Head of of Danya Ouklah, introduced themselves, their work and teaching examples, and reported on upcoming initiatives. 

The focus is on the possibilities of individual support for student*innen through learning and educational apps. For the worldwide "Safer Internet Day" on February 7, 2023, the team has planned educational projects for student*innen to promote awareness of topics such as screen time, cyber-bullying and alternatives to digital media, which will be carried out in the classes by the class teachers with the support of the digital team during the month of February.  

The next parent info meeting will take place again on 14.02. In keeping with the "Safer Internet Day" initiative, the topic is "Dangers on the Internet". Experienced German psychologist Alfred Gull, German Neuroscience Center, will present on the topic and be available to answer parents' questions.
