82 first graders start their school career at DISD

On August 30, 82 first graders started their school career at DISD. Colorful school cones dominated the picture in the festively decorated canteen. This German tradition is also practiced far away from home in Dubai. The excited first-graders took their seats on benches in the front row in their brand new school uniforms with their school bags. The school enrollment ceremony began with a solemn rendition of the UAE anthem, sung by the primary school choir, which got everyone present - mothers, fathers, grandparents and friends - in the mood for this special day.

Our principal Dr. Sammy Wafi gave the 1st graders a few important things to remember in his welcoming speech: "Be curious, ask questions, be a team and work together. And accept things that go wrong. Anyone can make mistakes, write a dictation incorrectly. The important thing is that you learn from it and do better next time!"

The head of the primary school, Ms. Rehbein, also welcomed the new first graders and their families. "I am delighted that you are all here. Welcome to the DISD!" In her speech, she emphasized the importance of the first day of school as a special milestone in every child's life.

A highlight of the school enrolment program was the musical performance by class 2d with their song "in my schoolbag there is music". Classes 2a, 2b and 2c then welcomed the youngest new DISD students with the song "DISD Adventure". Then it was finally time: the first graders were allowed to enter the big DISD stage class by class and get to know their new classmates, the class animal and their class teachers Ms. Winkler (1a), Ms. Rudolf (1b), Ms. Seidel (1c) and Ms. Bahce (1d).

After the official part, they experienced their first lesson. The graduating class (#classof2025) stood in line and formed a ceremonial corridor through which the first graders were led to their classes and received high fives from the twelfth graders. It was a special moment that highlighted the community and cohesion of our school.

After the first lesson, the first official class photo was taken. During this time, there was a reception for the parents of the first graders, which was lovingly organized by the 2nd graders with coffee and cake. This was an opportunity for parents to get to know each other and chat in a relaxed atmosphere.

We are delighted to welcome our new 1st graders and their families to our school and wish them a successful and happy start to their time at school!
