Successful International Day at DISD
With the motto „one school – many nationalities “, we celebrated our diversity at DISD. A group of committed parents organized the first International Day at DISD on Thursday, September 20th. Lead by Mrs Tanja Gentilucci from the parent’s council, they set up 20 amazing stalls representing more than 25 nationalities. There was a great amount of information and games from the nationalities, as well as decoration, games and of course country-typical food.
Many parents and students had come in traditional clothing and many school classes had prepared wonderful posters in occasion of the International Day. In combination with the great amount of beautifully decorated stands, this made a great impression.
The event was opened by the primary school choir, who sang a beautiful song. Furthermore, DISD principal Mr Jolk welcomed all families and thanked everyone who had contributed, especially the organizing Team: Mrs Tanja Gentilucci, Mrs Gülay Günes, Mrs Elizabete Felbor, Mrs Gulnara Kuzbayeva, Mrs Rima Noah, and Mrs Manuela Meitza. Then the sixth graders presented their song about diversity. A Indonesian dancer, a Palestinian Dabke group as well as the parents of the Turkey stands created a great atmosphere and everyone was clapping and dancing.
A big thank you to all parents, who helped organizing this great celebration, as well as to our school partner GAAST LLC, who supported us with hot and cold beverages.
