Poetry at DISD

Just now, at the inauguration of the American president, the world saw and heard how powerful poetry can be. As part of a poetry class session in grade 6 English class, this poem was written by Christopher Luka (6c). It describes the normal everyday life of the boy and points out what -especially in the present time- is most important – Selina Krebs, Head of English Department

My name is Chris

Hi, my name is Chris
I wouldn’t give a football game a miss.

I’m happy when I ride my bike
that’s how good sports men are alike.

Some days I read a book to ease my time
my favourite book is about a crime.

I like to play a video game
which hopefully shots me to fame.

This could bring me lots of wealth
but what really matters is good health.
