NEW EMPLOYEES 2018/19
An overview and short introduction of our new employees in the new school year 2018/19.
Dr. Sammy Wafi is the vice principal. He is new in Dubai and previously acted as school principal at the Bildungszentrum Bonndorf in the Southern Black Forest. He has been teaching Mathematics, Music, and Physical Education for more than 10 years and also looks back on experience as expert consultant in Music and as a council member of ‘P.E. for Secondary Schools’ at the Supervisory School Authority Waldshut/Lörrach. In his role as research associate in Psychology at the University of Education Freiburg, he contributed to the investigation of student competencies and has also gained additional pedagogical knowledge and skills while earning his Master of Arts in Educational Sciences at the University Zurich.
Cornelia Steinberger-Busch is the assistant of the Schildkrötengruppe. She is originally from Hamburg and has been living in Neuburg an der Donau for 20 years. She is a trained office clerk with the certificate for training and has four children from 15 to 28, two studying at DISD.
Natali Rancic is the teacher of the Krabbengruppe. Mrs Rancic is new in Dubai and is from Vienna. In the past four years, she has been working for the Vienna International Islamic School, amongst others.
Linda Remiorz is the assistant in the Seepferdchengruppe. She has been living in the UAE for 1.5 years and worked at the German Kindergarten in Abu Dhabi last. Mrs Remiorz comes from the Gelsenkirchen area and studies psychology (distance learning). In Germany, she worked in a school for people with disabilities.
Melanie Dziergwa is the class teacher of 1a, hedgehog class. She is new in Dubai and has been teaching at a primary school in Neuss, Germany. Frau Dzergwa comes originally from Münster and is looking forward to the new start in Dubai.
Janine Müller is the new class teacher of 1d, the camel class. Janine has been in Dubai for 3.5 years and was working as a class teacher and head of the German department at the Swiss International School. She lives in her husband, son and Jack Russel Terrier in Dubai and is lucking forward to support the parents and students in the entry of school life.
Gaitri Mehra is the class teacher of 3b and teaches German, Math, English and Ethics. She is from Hamburg, where she studied English and Spanisch. She loves travelling and adventures. It has always been her dream to live in Dubai, and she is looking forward to the get to know die DISD community.
Mathias Herz is class teacher of 5a and teaches math and sport. He has been teaching at a high school in Berlin and lives now in Dubai with his wife, also teacher at DISD and small daughter. Before the move to Dubai, his biggest adventure had been a 30-day hike from Munich to Venice.
Sitem Kolburan is the class teacher of 5c. She teaches German, English and moral education and is new in Dubai. She has been teaching in Heilbronn after finishing her studies in Mannheim and California. During her studies, she taught theater for children at the state theater in Mannheim for 3 years.
Viktoria Opetnik is the class teacher in 8b. She teaches German, history and moral education. She comes from Carinthia, Austria and has been teaching German in Manila, Philippines at a German language school. She is looking forward to the more ordered life in Dubai and hopes to take up her hobby volleyball in Dubai again.
Trijntje Herz teaches Chemistry and Geography at DISD. She is originally from the Netherlands and has been teaching at a high school in Brandenburg last. There, she and her class were rewarded the 1. Price in the Chemistry competition Dechemax. She is looking forward to take part in this and other competitions with DISD students.
Nadine Frömmel-Hick teaches Ethics and German as a foreign language at DISD. Previously, she was teaching at the German International School Riad, Saudi-Arabia. Before, she worked as a teacher in Mannheim. She lives in Dubai with her husband and two children, who are students at DISD.
Dominique Pienkny teaches French, ethics, moral education and art. She is from Halle, studied in Leipzig and previously worked at a high school Schkeuditz. During university, she studied at the Université de Loraine in Nancy, France.
Soha Abdelmageed is new in the Arabic department and will teach Arabic as a foreign language and Islam in primary and secondary school. She worked at DISD from 2010 to 2015 before. In the past three years, she taught at the Europaschule in Cairo.
Mona Hussein is now a full employee at DISD. She teaches Arabic in Primary and Secondary grade.
Katarina Vrzal takes over Daniela Widera’s position in the cashiers office. She has been living in Dubai for three years and has two children at DISD. In Germany, she worked 8 years for Accenture in Munich, in customer care in human resources.
Maryann Estrada is a new Bus Conductor.
Joy Seychelles is a new Bus Conductor.
Cheroor Konothodi is a new bus driver.
Asif Thayyil is a new bus driver.
