After-school Activity Presentations

On Thursday, September 6th, DISD parents and students had the possibility to get to know the diverse After-school activity program.

In school, the program is divided into six categories: Creative, Music and Sport Clubs, as well as School Teams, Remedial Teaching and Curriculum Complementing Classes, which offer individual encouragement and creative learning after school.

DISD – teachers are looking forward to teach their passion to smaller groups: In primary school, Mr Rosenmeier teaches swimming for beginners and gives the opportunity to complete German badges like “Seepferdchen”. Mrs Beising and Mrs Häcker teach gymnastics and Mrs Elstermann and Mrs Weyand are ready to get everyone on stage in their Drama Club.

From 5th to 7th grade, students can become part of the Computer Club, where they learn how to use the Computer properly and Mr Barry Lake, our school photographer from Future Photography, gives an introduction into Photography.

Our partner Just Play presented the popular football clubs, which source talented players for their U10 and U12 school teams. Last year, they were able to score first places in soccer tournaments in Dubai. Capoeira, the Brazilian Martial Arts and Asian Martial Arts, which is taught from Kindergarten throughout Secondary School, are very popular as well.

The Remedial Teachings, including grammar, spelling, math and language courses, were presented by the deputy head of the Inclusion Support Team Mrs Juen and the head of the department for Arabic as a foreign language Mr Abdelwahab.

Students can also strengthen their musical abilities in the afternoon at DISD. Mr Kho, head of the Music department, presented the popular activities like primary choir and school band, together with the music teachers Mrs Kraus, Mrs Dahm and Mr Teixeira. Especially exciting are the instrumental classes, where students are taught instruments like piano and violin in small groups of up to 3 students.

This diverse program is a distinguishable factor of DISD. The students enjoy the small groups, where they can learn new skills and spend more time with their friends.
